HISTORY
Industrial Power Systems (IPS) was established in May of 1985 by Kevin J. Gray, as sole owner and CEO. He brought IPS into the ranks of a crowded field of mechanical contractors in Toledo, Ohio with the goal of sustaining profit and growth in the upcoming years. The early years were filled with aggressive market opportunities for IPS. Jobs like the Chrysler and Ogihara Stamping Plants in Cleveland, Ohio and Howell, Michigan respectively put IPS on the map in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. These projects were essential in creating the image for the new company as an efficient cost effective contractor that could manage sizable projects.
In 1988, Mr. Gray brought on a partner with extensive engineering and construction experience to foster the continued growth of IPS. After several years of being a successful mechanical contractor, IPS wanted to further grow its specialty contracting capabilities by adding electrical, millwright, and HVAC/R service trades. Being a full service contractor, IPS was able to offer turnkey packages working direct with the owner. Many projects were completed over the next several years and IPS’ reputation for integrity, performance, and safety continued to grow. In 1993 IPS was awarded a multi-million dollar project for Pro-Tec Coating Company, a division of USS/KOBE Steel in Leipsic, Ohio. This was IPS’ largest project to date and it was successfully completed on time and on budget.
In the last 10 years, IPS has greatly expanded its capabilities by actively engaging in general contracting work mainly in the power, refinery, and steel industries. IPS continues to focus on growth in its general contracting operations.
Today, IPS’ annual sales exceed $100 million in completed work and is a leader in field man-hours worked in Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan. 80% of its work is repeat business. The company prides itself on hard-working, motivated employees functioning together to provide customers with quality craftsmanship. |
